What are the responsibilities and job description for the PC Support Technician position at Summa Health?
Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and documents the installations of computer hardware, software, and peripherals. Performs initial setup activities for personal computers and network access and designs/implements preventive maintenance procedures. Maintains hardware asset inventory and tracking, documenting purchase orders and equipment inventory. Offers training and support for standard software packages. Conduct routine diagnosis on failed equipment, software and network issues. Works with Senior PC Technicians, network administrators and other technical staff to complete the requested services. Provides daily support coverage and helpdesk function as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Post High School course work in Computer Technology or related field, PC technician certification, and/or currently working towards college degree in Computer Technology or related field.
2. Experience & Training Required:
a. Minimum of two (2) years experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of personal computer hardware, software, and peripherals in a networked environment of at least 50 workstations.
b. Additional related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement or additional education may be substituted for up to one (1) year of experience requirement.
3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
b. Analytical skills to evaluate hardware and software problems. Able to formulate and carry out plan to resolve problem.
c. Basic understanding of ITIL processes
d. Ability to monitor personal work assignments and complete them within set timelines. Seeks assistance from Senior PC Technician or Manager when unable to meet deadlines or needs further assistance.
e. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
f. Ability to site hardware, software, security, and Internet policy to end users and refer them to appropriate resources with questions.
g. Works independently within the boundaries of their work queue assignments and timelines.
h. Ability to work well within a team environment.
i. Assumes accountability for demonstrating behaviors consistent with customer service policy.
4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.
