What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN Rapid Response Team position at Summa Health?
Provides early and rapid intervention in order to promote better outcomes such as reduced cardiac and/or respiratory arrests in the hospital, reduced or timelier transfers to a higher level of care, reduced patient intubations, and reduced patient morbidity and mortality.
Proactively rounds on patients to identify opportunities for early intervention, while also responding to Rapid Response Team alerts per policy criteria. Assists the staff in assessing and stabilizing patient conditions and organizing information to be communicated to the patient’s provider. In addition, educates and supports the staff to determine appropriate interventions.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or a school accepted for candidacy status from an accrediting body
2. Experience and Training Required:
a. Current license to practice nursing in the State of Ohio
b. Current BLS and ACLS
c. Current NIH Certification
d. Two (2) years critical care hardwire or emergency department experience.
3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:

f. Assumes collaborative relationship with providers and other health care professionals in exchanging information and managing patient care.
g. Ability to communicate with patients, families, visitors.
h. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
i. Assumes accountability for demonstrative behaviors consistent with the organization’s Standards of Behaviors policy.
j. Demonstrates strong skills in code blue team management.
k. Understands all protocols and plans of care for emergent and critical care
l. Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10-20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
