Day to Day

  • Government Affairs: Assist with logistics of potentially two elections, support the planning and execution of public board meetings, and help ensure compliance with governance regulations.
  • Community Engagement & Outreach: Organize community engagement initiatives, represent the District at public events, and create compelling marketing materials to enhance outreach efforts.
  • Digital Content & Analytics: Manage and streamline the district’s photo inventory, optimize web content for consistency and accessibility, and contribute to ideas and creation of automation opportunities or analytics dashboards.
  • Communications Strategy: Research industry practices, analyze engagement, and help shape the organization’s approach to digital communications.
  • Branding & Identity: Assist in maintaining the district’s internal and external branding to ensure a consistent and professional presence across all platforms through employee support and material creation.

Qualifications & Competencies


  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, social media, and basic web content management is a plus.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under District standards.
  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in communications, public administration, political science, journalism, business, or a related field preferred. The scope of work for this role will be broad and we are open to candidates with different backgrounds, interests, and experience.

Schedule

This position will work up to a maximum of 1,000 hours or six months. We prefer a candidate who is available to work 30 or more hours a week for a six-month time period but will consider alternative schedule options. This internship will work mostly onsite with the occasional opportunity to work remotely. An ideal start date for this internship is in April.

Pay Range and Benefits

This role is a paid internship with a pay range of $23.72 - $33.22/hour. We value life-work balance and are leaders in the industry with our seasonal employee benefits package, which includes but is not limited to:
