Employees in this dynamic job serve as a caseworker/advocate for (typically) up to four individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities who live in a Adult Residential Home for 12 people. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the employee is expected to be able to exercise good judgement and apply guidelines and procedures of the program to specific situation and supervise others.

Essential Job Functions:

-Supervises direct care staff to ensure that individuals served are being supported appropriately with daily living skills, completes "in-house" documentation, provides support for conflict management and problem solving, and a variety of other job tasks.
-Acts as a liaison between the individual and community, schools/workshop programs, day programs, medical offices, Alta Regional Center, other agencies and families or significant others.
-Prepares case notes, Individual Service Plans (ISP), and annual reports and composes correspondence relative to the work, and submits them in a timely manner.
-Familiarizes self with the individual's finances, helps them budget for purchase/bills, and make good financial decisions.
-Coordinates and attends all medical appointments. Ensures that individuals are supported, records of appointments are kept, and follow up care is obtained.
-Works with Social Security and Medical/ Medicare to ensure the continuity of benefits.-Provides direct support to residents living in the home

Job Qualifications:

Enthusiasm for working with people with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities
Excellent computer, written and verbal skills
Ability and willingness to perform the duties of Direct Support Staff
Ability to organize and prioritize time and job tasks
Reliability and timeliness
Ability to work well with others; individually and as a team
1 year of supervisory and/or direct care experience with people with disabilities preferred
Clean driving record, reliable vehicle and current car insurance

Personal Requirements:

Familiarity with persons with developmental disabilities is highly desirable. Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) background clearance. Valid California Driver's license and the ability to be insured by our insurance carrier is required. Must have or be able to successfully complete First Aid/CPR and other training as required. Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical and TB test. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must be vaccinated & boosted against Covid-19 or qualify for a religious/medical exemption.
