This is a voluntary summer position.
- In order to be eligible to receive additional pay for working in our summer learning programs, your work calendar must show non-scheduled days for the dates of the summer program you are applying to. Please upload your approved work calendar in the jobs portal as part of your application to be a summer learning principal. Your work calendar can be found in your informedK12 account.

- Because the summer session crosses the fiscal year, summer employees will have to be sure to reflect their summer work days in July as “non scheduled days’ for their 25-26 work calendar. The summer office will support this process once the 25-26 Work Calendars go live.
SummerBOOST Principal Job Description:
Role Overview: As the principal of our SummerBOOST program, you are the glue of the site and create conditions for your team—including TSAs, teachers, families, and students—to flourish. You will play a pivotal role in leading a pilot initiative aimed at improving students' academic performance in math and literacy. Your responsibilities include providing professional development, fostering family engagement, and ensuring effective program implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading Adult Culture, Communication, and Collaboration:
- Plan and facilitate weekly school team meetings and daily check-ins with TSAs.
- Create systems to ensure effective communication and collaboration across the site.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that honors staff identities and contributions
- Engage regularly with Cluster Leaders and Program Managers to align site-based initiatives with central program expectations and strategic goals.
- Managing School Operations:
- Oversee the site’s operational logistics, including scheduling and resource allocation.
- Use data from surveys, observations, and progress reports to guide the team toward summer goals.
- Ensure alignment between instructional practices and operational priorities.
- Instructional Leadership:
- Conduct daily walkthroughs to monitor classroom and tutor effectiveness.
- Lead weekly instructional team meetings focused on progress monitoring and instructional strategies.
- Use site-level data to refine instructional schedules and address areas of underperformance.
- Family Engagement:
- Collaborate with TSAs to implement and monitor family communication and engagement strategies.
- Work closely with the Program Manager and Cluster Leader to align family engagement efforts across the site and program.
- Address gaps in family participation and promote the importance of the program’s goals to caregivers..
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support summer staff to create a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured environment that motivates and supports students.
- Hire staff in accordance with summer hiring policies
- Follow operational timelines as indicated on Summer Principal Website
- Attend a Summer Ops and master schedule workshop and create a master schedule in AERIES before the start of Summer School
- Recruit and enroll students for summer learning,
- Collaborate with Community Partners/Lead Agencies regarding program planning and student recruitment and enrollment.
- Conduct a cycle of observation/feedback for every teacher.
- Support Special Education classrooms on the summer campus.
- Serve as a role model, modeling best practices, caring and respect.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Valid California Credential authorizing service as a school administrator or appropriate interim credentialling
Show knowledge of district procedures and administrative policies
Exhibit leadership and communication skills with students, staff, parents, and community
Display efficient organizational and management skills
