If you are currently a TSA-11, you will have to submit a work calendar.
10 month OEA members do not have to submit work calendars
- In order to be eligible to receive additional pay for working in our summer learning programs, your work calendar must show non-scheduled days for the dates of the summer program you are applying to. Please upload your approved work calendar in the jobs portal as part of your application to be a summer learning principal. Your work calendar can be found in your informedK12 account.

- Because the summer session crosses the fiscal year, summer employees will have to be sure to reflect their summer work days in July as “non scheduled days’ for their 25-26 work calendar. The summer office will support this process once the 25-26 Work Calendars go live.
Position purpose: To instruct the Summer Kinder TK bridge class as well as partner with families to support school readiness and a smooth transition into elementary school in the fall.
Who we’re looking for:
- An educator excited to support young children’s learning in development and culturally responsive ways. The ideal candidate is well versed in family engagement practices and/or enthused to learn.
- An educator with experience in early learning.
- An enthusiastic family partner who will foster meaningful collaboration with family members/caretakers through (virtual/in person) home visits.
- An educator well versed in play-based teaching strategies and trauma informed practices and/or inclusive teaching strategies.
Responsibilities:
Instruction delivery, student engagement, and feedback
- Create a positive, child centric environment that motivates and supports student learning and social emotional development.
- Execute daily instruction responsibilities and connect students/families with resources, (class of 16 early learners).
- Conduct virtual/in-person home visits with families.
- Take daily attendance.
- Weekly check-in with Kindergarten Readiness Manager
Build partnerships with family members
- Connect with family members and build relationships ( thru home visits).
- Lead a family orientation prior to programming.
- Provide an informal family conference at the end of the program for each child (5-10 min).
- Celebrate success with scholars and families at the end of the program.
Preparing for the program/coaching support
- Attend two three hour training sessions in May.
- Take part in weekly check-ins with the Kindergarten Readiness team.
Time Commitment
- The SKB teaching role is approximately a 105-hour commitment. This includes:
- 4 week 4 hour program, 1 hr of daily prep
- 5 hr prep day
- 6 hours of pre- programming PD
- Up to 16 hours virtual home visits
- 1 hour virtual family orientation/Ready Week
Home Visits, Orientations: ($38.50/hour):
- 5 hours for Ready Week (virtual family orientations)
- 16 hours for virtual home visits
Per OEA contract Article 23.3.3.3, unit members will not be selected for more than two consecutive years. Should no qualified applicants apply, unit members may serve for more than two consecutive years.
OEA Contract: 23.3.3.5 Employment shall be contingent upon enrollment
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Valid California Credential authorizing service in applied position
- Training and experience in the specific programs are required
- Must be proficient in standards-based instruction and assessment Demonstrate ability to motivate at-risk youth
Please note that selected candidates will be assigned based on program needs. Selected candidates are expected to commit to the program for the duration of the assignment. Offer and continuation of employment is dependent upon level of student enrollment and attendance. Notice of employment will be sent to the selected candidates. Qualified personnel from within the district will be considered for placement. Per OEA contract Article 23.3.3.3, unit members will not be selected for more than two consecutive years.
