What are the responsibilities and job description for the ESY Special Education Teacher position at Summer School?
Position Description:
The specialist will provide for the special educational needs of identified students.
Will be responsible for planning the child’s program by selecting specific activities, materials, and methods as related to diagnostic findings and recommendations of the evaluation team. The specialist accepting this assignment must have a thorough understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (PL 105-17); the ability to provide for the special education needs of identified students; and the ability to supervise students in the resource program.
Special Requirements: (Certification, training, specialty skills or previous experience)
1. Valid Oregon teaching license appropriate to the assignment, Special Education endorsement and Master’s degree required.
2. Previous experience in working with students with special needs.
3. Must demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
4. Planning the student’s program by selecting specific activities, materials, and methods as related to diagnostic findings and recommendations of the evaluation team.
5. Scheduling students for time in inclusion opportunities and resource classes as required to implement IEPs.
6. Provide teachers with relevant information about the students with special needs.
7. Conduct periodic plan review meetings according to District and federal regulations.
8. Communicate with parents frequently to discuss the child’s progress; sends home periodic written progress reports; and consult with other professionals and outside agencies regarding the child when appropriate.
9. Bilingual applicants preferred, but not required.

There are 4 positions available.
Extended School Year dates: July 7 - July 24, 2025; Monday - Thursday; four hours per day
One day prior to the program start day will be established for preparation and training.
Additional time following the program will be offered to complete tasks.
There will also be opportunities to work additional hours alongside concurrent summer programs
