What are the responsibilities and job description for the WSSD Elementary and Secondary Summer School Program Instructional Support Positions position at Summer School?
The Elementary and Secondary Summer School Program is for WSSD students entering first through eleventh grades who are eligible for reading and/or math intervention based upon pre-determined criteria. The program runs four hours per day, four days a week, for four consecutive weeks. In this program students receive daily direct reading and math instruction at the appropriate level; engage in independent reading; develop their writing, and receive related services as outlined in the Individual Education Plan.
Positions Available:
- Multiple Instructional Support positions, including teacher assistants and personal care assistants
Responsibilities:
- Assist teacher with classroom instruction and duties; work with individual students and small groups of students under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher
Qualifications:
- Flexibility to assist within the Elementary and Secondary Summer Program as needed and assigned
- Wallingford-Swarthmore School District employee preferred
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents
- Must be able to commit to all scheduled days
Schedule:
- June 23 through July 17, 2025 (4 weeks); Monday through Thursday
- Up to 6 hours (8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) per day Secondary; 8:30-2:30 per day Elementary; as determined by supervisor
- Note: There will be one mandatory orientation meeting prior to the start of the program one is virtual and the other in person in June.
Salary: To be determined in accordance with the WSESPA Bargaining Unit Agreement.
