Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting patient care by performing various technical tasks within a medical office or hospital setting. This position requires a strong understanding of medical records management, adherence to HIPAA regulations, and proficiency with electronic health record systems such as Epic and Cerner. The Medical Technician will work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of care for patients, including those with developmental disabilities and senior care needs.
Duties
- Perform routine medical tests and procedures as directed by physicians or other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize electronic health record systems (Epic, Cerner) to input and retrieve patient information efficiently.
- Assist in the preparation of patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care for patients, including those with developmental disabilities.
- Conduct regular inventory checks of medical supplies and equipment, reporting any shortages or malfunctions.
- Stay updated on advancements in medical technology and practices relevant to the role.
- Provide support in senior care settings, ensuring that all patient needs are met with compassion and professionalism.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an Assisted Living, LTC or Home Care is preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic or Cerner is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology to assist in accurate patient assessments.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on patient interaction.
- A compassionate approach to patient care, particularly in home care or senior care settings.
