Reports To: Pharmacy Manager/Supervisor
Job Summary: The Pharmacy Assistant will be responsible for shipping daily orders, collecting orders, tracking orders, labeling and packaging patient orders, handling customer sale transactions, accurately receiving pharmacy supply orders and inventory, maintaining an organized register, light cleaning and providing support to pharmacy staff within a compounding pharmacy setting. This individual must be proficient in data entry and register skills, possess technological literacy, strong organizational and decision making skills and excellent customer service abilities with an understanding of the pharmacy environment. The role requires a reliable, adaptable, detail-oriented team player who ensures accurate shipping, receiving, data entry and financial transactions while maintaining a positive attitude and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Transactions: Answer the phone and queue orders, process customer purchases, including over-the-counter (OTC) products, compounded medications, and pharmacy services, accurately and efficiently.
- Cash Register Operation: Operate the cash register, handle cash, credit, charge and debit transactions, and provide correct change as needed.
- Basic Computer Skills: Type customer orders, patient information, and product sales into the POS and shipping software, ensuring data accuracy, verify weather conditions via the web
- Payment Processing: Process various payment methods (cash, credit/debit cards) and issue receipts.
- Shipping Orders: Preparing all patient prescription orders for shipping in a timely manner in time for daily pick up
- Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, assist with inquiries, and direct them to the appropriate pharmacy staff for more complex queries.
- Inventory Support: Assist with restocking shelves, organizing OTC products, maintain and organize shipping stock and supporting materials, receive inventory and properly document, weigh and package shipments, ensure the pharmacy is neat and tidy.
- Sales Support: Answer questions about general product availability, prices, and special promotions.
- Assist Pharmacy Staff: Collaborate with the pharmacy team to ensure a smooth workflow and efficient customer service.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all relevant pharmacy policies (Board of Pharmacy, FDA, DEA, BNDD, USP, Internal Policies) and procedures, safety protocols, and privacy regulations (HIPAA).
- Maintain Cleanliness: Support and participate in lab/dispensing area clean and restock, ensure the cashier area, pharmacy and surrounding workspace is clean, organized, and free of obstructions.
Skills & Qualifications::
- Computer Skills: Use a computer to process FedEx and UPS small package shipments. Ability to accurately input data into the pharmacy’s computer system and handle customer information with confidentiality. Ability to operate out of a digital queue and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Register Skills: Familiarity with cash register operations, including cash handling, receipt printing, and managing payment transactions.
- Customer Service: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and customer-first approach.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to handle transactions accurately and identify any discrepancies in pricing or payments.
- Basic Math Skills: Comfortable working with numbers and handling cash transactions.
- Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with pharmacy staff while maintaining a consistently positive attitude.
- Problem Solving Skills: Ability to figure out answers to problems independently and know ones limitations, asking for help when needed.
- Physical Requirements: Professional demeanor and appearance. Ability to stand/ walk for hours at a time, ability to lift and carry packages of 10-40 pounds, ability to measure with a tape measure and document the weights and dimensions of packages accurately
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College degree is not required, but welcomed.
- Prior experience with shipping/receiving, teller, pharmacy technician or customer service; preferably healthcare, financial or retail environment.
- Eligible to work in the United States of America
- Must be able to fluently read and write English.
Working Conditions:
- Compounding pharmacy environment with consistent customer interactions, phone calls, varied tasks and exposure to strong cleaning agents.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
