Job Summary:
The Summers-Taylor Parts Department is actively seeking an experienced Parts Department Associate to partner with and support our growing Service Department and Maintenance and Repairs Department. The Summers-Taylor Parts Department exists to provide the Maintenance and Repairs Department with the parts and tools necessary to maintain the safest, most reliable, highest performing equipment in the construction industry. The Parts Department ensures parts and tools are available for Maintenance and Repairs Personnel resulting in minimized downtime, extended asset lifespans of all equipment, and a fostered culture of continuous improvement. This role encompasses the management and control of inventory, procurement, receipt, and distribution of parts, and meeting the operational needs of our service team, maintenance and repairs team, and customers effectively and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize excess inventory.
- Manage the procurement process for parts, including vendor selection, negotiation, and order placement.
- Enter all parts received from vendors into ERP system confirming on-hand quantities align with actual on-hand quantities.
- Oversee the logistics of parts distribution, ensuring timely delivery to service departments, maintenance and repairs departments, and customers.
- Utilize ERP and minimum order quantity alerts to forecast parts demand and adjust inventory procurement strategies accordingly.
- Work within a team of parts personnel, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with service personnel, maintenance and repairs personnel, and management to identify parts needs and ensure availability.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in parts department / management or a related field, preferably within the automotive or heavy machinery sector
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles and best practices
- Proficient in utilizing inventory management software and systems
- Commitment to delivering high-quality service and customer satisfaction
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
