Position Objectives:
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a 10 MGD Wastewater Treatment Plant including chemical feed systems, activated sludge process, solids handling process, and pump stationsDuties and Responsibilities:
- Completes laboratory analyses, instrument calibration, sampling, and record keeping in electronic data management system
- Calculates chemical dosage, WAS pump rates, and solids loading rates. Able to interpret process control data and make appropriate adjustments to the process.
- Maintains accurate daily and monthly plant operations reports
- Operates heavy equipment including a boom truck, front-end loader, and forklift
- Monitors and controls plant processes via the SCADA system
- Develops basic knowledge of the drinking water distribution system
- Participates in the on-call/duty rotation (weekly) including 2 hours on Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
Minimum Requirements:
A South Carolina Biological Wastewater Treatment Class A or B license is required; as well as a South Carolina driver’s licenseDesirable Training and Experience:
- Extensive experience in activated sludge treatment processes
- Experience in mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance
- Regulatory knowledge including laboratory procedures, NPDES permitting/DMRs, solids disposal regulations, etc.
- Belt press operation and optimization
