What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher position at Summit Academy School?
What is Summit Academy?
Summit Academy is a small, private, and therapeutic special education day school off of Salisbury Street in Worcester, MA. We currently have a total of 25 students in our school, ranging from K through 12th grade. Our student population has diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as other related diagnoses. Here at Summit Academy, we use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies and techniques under the supervision of our Special Education Director and our Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). These strategies assist our students in accessing the curriculum, following school rules and directions, decreasing challenging behaviors, learning different ways to cope with difficult situations, and engage with peers and staff using appropriate social skills.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an energetic and dedicated long term substitute teacher to join our Summit family! This teacher will be expected to assist in implementing ABA strategies throughout the day to support the classroom, as well as communicate effectively with the other classroom teachers and instructional assistants. The close-knit Summit team is excited to bring on another staff member and assist them in learning more about our program and our students. Support and guidance will also be provided by school administration.
Our School Year
Our school year is 198 days (early August through late June) and we offer an optional (for students and staff) summer program in July.
