What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agricultural Land Conservation and Management Professional position at Summit Agricultural Group?
As a conservation and grounds intern at Summit Agricultural Group, you will gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in large-scale farming operations. You will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance of grasslands, food plots, ponds, and timber areas on managed properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the health and growth of new trees through practices such as dripline irrigation maintenance, mowing, and spraying.
- Gain experience in preparing seed beds, seeding bluegrass, and maintaining lawns.
- Interact effectively with the Summit team throughout all stages of the internship, including activities and responsibilities.
- Operate company-owned equipment and perform general repair and maintenance when needed.
- Learn about the safe and effective use of herbicides.
- Create and prepare Excel workbooks to enter data and organize projects.
- Gain exposure to day-to-day farming operations, including pork, beef, and crop production.
You will have the opportunity to explore other departments, grow your professional network, and engage in multiple lunch and learns and after-work events. Throughout the internship, you will be overseen by the Environmental Operations Manager and the Internship Program Coordinator, who will help ensure a successful internship experience.
The internship program is tailored to give you a unique experience while allowing you to grow in your area of study. You will be expected to work hard and think creatively to contribute ideas for improving Summit's businesses. At the end of the internship, you will present a comprehensive presentation to Summit's management team outlining your experiences, results, and accomplishments.
