Job Overview
The Summit and Medina Workforce Area seeks three motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team of Workforce Services Representatives at the OhioMeansJobs Centers in Medina County (1) and in Summit County (2). The Workforce Services Representative will administer the federal Re-Employment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) program which works with Unemployment Claimants to review key information about the modern job search, develop strategies to regain employment, and make referrals to other workforce services available to the claimant. Position operates under the supervision of our Special Projects Manager.
Typical duties and responsibilities
- Delivery of RESEA Program Services which includes but is not limited to reminder contact, schedule and conduct initial appointment, and schedule and conduct subsequent appointments.
- Develops and updates an Individual Employment Plan (IEP) to identify barriers to employment.
- Makes referrals to partners housed in the OhioMeansJobs center or other community-based programs.
- Performs case management and documents interactions with the claimant in the designated state case management system.
- Services RESEA Participants accounts in the designated state case management system.
- Provides general orientation to services available at the OhioMeansJobs center to RESEA customers.
- Participates in training and regular all-state team meetings.
- May perform additional dutiesrelated to workforce or economic development as assigned.
Skills/knowledge/abilities
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, social or behavioral science or public administration is preferred. High School Diploma/High School Equivalency required.
Skills:
- Detailed planning and organizational skills
- Professional interpersonal relationship skills
- Effective written and verbal communication, emphasis on documenting customer interactions
- Previous case management experience or customer relationship management
- 1-3 years of customer service experience, working with diverse populations
- Gather, collate, and classify information according to rules, regulations, and guidelines
- Able to work independently and as part of a larger team.
- Deductive, inductive, and critical thinking skills
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of governmental funding structures
- Knowledge of Public Workforce System programs including Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014
- Knowledge of basic economic development terms
Abilities:
- Ability to operate a computer with intermediate skill
- Ability to use Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel with intermediate skill
- Vision to see both near and far
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with driving privileges in the State of Ohio or have reliable means of transportation.
Work environment
Work is performed in a typical office setting. May require walking, standing, lifting up to 25 pounds. Work is mostly sedentary in nature. Office environment is one level. Some travel may be required. Office building houses other partner social service providers and contractors. Interaction with employees of other agencies and the general public. Office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
Compensation
Starting at $19.25/hour, commensurate with experience.
