Required Skills or Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-2 years experience working in medical billing and coding
- Minimum of 1-2 years of HIPAA Compliance experience
- Proficient in Google Workspace or equivalent (e.g., Microsoft) and able to quickly learn and navigate various digital platforms/software
- Prioritize responsibilities and manage time effectively
- Professional communication and strong customer service skills
- Able to maintain confidentiality of company and client information
- Able to pass criminal background check
Preferred Skills or Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education or training relevant to the role
- Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) medical billing
- Background knowledge or understanding of neurodevelopmental disorders and/or ABA

Billing Specialist Responsibilities:
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of claims to insurance companies and invoices to clients
- Identify and resolve billing discrepancies or errors
- Post payments of claims and invoices and assist with accounts receivable
- Follow up on outstanding claims and denials to ensure maximum reimbursement
- Monitor insurance authorization periods and submit prior authorization requests
- Phone and email correspondence with insurance companies, practice management software, third-party clearinghouses, and other billing-related organizations and personnel
- Maintain knowledge of record keeping requirements and assist with insurance audits/record requests
- Collaborate with administrative team and BCBAs® to ensure accuracy of client records and on other billing matters
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per year
Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
