Positions are 12 hours in length. This is an On-call position
Dayside Shift: 6am-6pm
Nightside Shift: 6pm-6am
Summit Care is looking for an on-call caregiver. We are looking for a caregiver that is interested in being on-call to cover vacations and other appointments. Open availability is desired but is not required. Hours will not be consistent or guaranteed. A candidate for this position should be flexible with the understanding that they will work when needed with very little consistency.
Summit Care Caregiver

Position Summary:
The caregiver is responsible for a variety of duties related to the overall care of individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities that reside in a residential home.
Activities of Daily Living
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents.
- Encourage and support residents to help with meal preparation given their personal needs or respective care plan.
- Assist in self-administered medication for the respective client.
- Monitor, assist and interact with basic daily living activities for each client.
- Support individual daily skills with household chores, laundry, cleaning and washing dishes according to their individual care plan.
- Maintain residence- both interior and exterior, help assist in cleaning resident’s personal room.
- Encourage residents (assist if necessary) to care for hygiene and personal needs such as using the restroom, bathing, and washing their hands.
- Ensure all individuals are dressed appropriately.
- Lead residents through planned exercise routines within the home.
- Follows safety protocols to foster a safe working environment. Immediately reports safety violations or unsafe conditions to the Program Director.
- Protect Resident Rights and ensure an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.
- Maintain an awareness of each resident's general state of physical and mental health and report any changes at once to the Program Director.
Training
- CPR and First Aid Certification, Food Handlers Card (Alaska.gov), Conflict De-Escalation training (CPI training), ASAM (Assistance w/Self-Administered Training).
- Formal background check will be conducted at the time of conditional hiring.
Schedule
- Part-time
- Work flexible work schedules that accommodate the needs of the business and residents.
- Summit Care operates 365 days a year and is open 24 hours a day. Shifts occur overnight, early in the morning and throughout the day.

Job Requirements
- Valid Driver’s license
- 12 months of experience in working with people with intellectual or developmental disabilities is preferred. Similar experience in working with elderly care will also be considered.
- Must be able to safely lift/pull/push 50 pounds.
- Must be willing and able to clear home entrance areas of snow and other debris.
- Ability to work on holidays and during inclement weather events.
- Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
