General Description:
Private residential high school in Upper Nyack, NY is seeking a kitchen staff employee to prepare and serve meals to our day and residential students during lunch and dinner.
Schedule:
- Days: Sunday – Thursday (off on Friday and Saturday)
- Time: 11:30am – 7:30pm
- Occasional additional weekend shifts as needed
Responsibilities:
- Serving meals, ensuring that students receive appropriate portions and a variety of nutritious foods
- Preparing and cooking food at the instruction of the Food Service Director and in accordance with all New York State Department of Health Standards
- Handling and storing food using hygienic and safe practices
- Maintaining the kitchen physical space and all kitchen supplies
- Cleaning the kitchen and dining room under the direction of the Food Service Director
- Maintaining the highest level of professional conduct and integrity at all times
- Treating all students, families, co-workers and manager with professionalism and respect
- Being mindful and sensitive to student concerns, with particular sensitivity in regard to eating disorders
- Arriving for your assigned shift on time and ready to begin tasks
- Promoting effective team work, cooperation, professionalism and communication among program personnel
- Maintaining a positive attitude and high level of engagement throughout the entire shift, and not ending a shift until cleared to do so by a supervisor
- Performing all other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow instructions accurately
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
