Summit Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and qualified Grammar School Teacher Assistant to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a classical and engaging learning environment for students in K-6 (as assigned), fostering a love of learning, and ensuring academic and social-emotional growth.
Assigned area of instruction: K-2nd Grade Assistant Teacher (part-time position), primarily in Math and Christian Studies, with other areas as assigned. Typical hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am-3pm, and monthly staff meetings for an hour (3:30-4:30pm).

Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist lead teachers with daily classroom activities, lesson implementation, and student supervision
- Support students in developing academic skills, particularly in reading, writing, and basic mathematics
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
- Prepare and organize educational materials and supplies
- Provide one-on-one assistance to students who need additional support
- Assist with classroom management and positive behavioral guidance
- Participate in daily prayer, Bible lessons, and the integration of Christian values
- Help supervise students during lunch, recess, and transitions
- Communicate effectively with lead teachers about student progress and concerns
- Assist with parent communication as directed by lead teachers
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- Strong Christian faith and commitment to Christian education
- Genuine love for young children and passion for early childhood education
- High school diploma required; Associate's degree in Education or related field preferred
- Previous experience working with children in K-2 age range
- Patience, flexibility, and enthusiasm for supporting diverse learning styles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer literacy
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student and school matters
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for working with children and a commitment to student success
- Proficiency in using technology in the classroom
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
- Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Preferences:
- Understanding of Classical Education & homeschool experience preferred
- Teaching certification not required, but teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Additional Information:
Pay for this position is based on $35.00/hour as starting pay. Actual pay rates will be determined based on a combination of experience, education, skills, and other factors directly related to the job. The incumbent will receive a compensation offer that defines the hours worked to support the school schedule, to include compensation for hours spent teaching, planning (if applicable), and for other assigned activities.
