Function and Scope
Prayerfully help students think, live, love, and lead as Christians through the delivery of subject matter, skills, and attitudes that will contribute to student development as mature, able, and responsible Christian students to the praise and glory of God. Reporting Relationships
Reports directly to the Principal - Evaluated annually by administration; observed on formal and informal basis throughout the year.
Personal Qualifications
- Has received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
-Good standing of a local Bible-based church and lead mature Christian life.
-Reflect the purpose of the school to honor Christ in every class and in every activity.
Professional Qualifications
- College graduate who feels called by God to teach.
- A teaching certificate or other professional training in teaching philosophy and methods is preferred.
Spiritual Duties
- Seeks to role model in speech, actions, and attitude, a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.
- Sets example of the importance of prayer, church membership, church attendance, Scripture memorization and study, witnessing, and unity in Christian fellowship.
- Follows the Matthew 18 principles in dealing with students, parents, school staff and leadership.
- Shows support for the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their child’s education and assists them in the task.
- Encourages students to accept God’s gift of salvation and grow in their faith.
- Emphasizes to students the reality of their worth to Christ.
Instructional Duties
- Integrates Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy throughout the curriculum.
- Demonstrates mastery of the subject material.
- Uses valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals and affect student learning.
- Teaches classes as assigned and scheduled by the administrator.
- Employs a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child – spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional.
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible meets the individual needs, interest, and abilities of the students, challenging each to do his best work.
- Prepares and submits lesson plans as requested for the administrator’s review.
- Plans through approved channels the balanced use of field trips, guests, and other media.
- Uses homework effectively for drill, review, enrichment, or project work.
- Assesses the learning of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Keeps proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises for a good teaching environment and to support the school handbook.
- Sets time aside for scheduling parent conferences to promote learning skills of the child.
Non-Instructional Duties
- Cooperates with the board and administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school.
- Maintains regular, accurate and timely attendance and grade records to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each student’s progress.
- Keeps students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of student deficiencies and gives sufficient notice of impending failure or serious changes in achievement.
- Maintains a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom.
- Accepts a share of responsibility for extra-curricular activities as assigned.
- Provide children with a safe, loving, and nurturing environment.
Professional Duties
- Utilizes educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth.
- Seeks the counsel of the administrator, colleagues, and parent and is teachable.
- Provides input and recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school.
- Follows established school policies, procedures and guidelines in a spirit of positive cooperation.
- Attends and participates in scheduled devotional, committee, and Summit meetings.
- Knows the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.
- Contributes to the general improvement of the school program.

Work Schedule
Typically a 185 day contract: Up to 175 instructional days plus 10 additional workdays.
Daily hours: 30 minutes before instructional day begins until 30 minutes after student dismissal
Attendance and participation in appropriate school events
Additional duties as assigned by the Principal.
Other Requirements:
- Belief in the Summit Christian School Statement of Faith
- Current TB, CPR and First Aid Certification (CPR and First Aid Training will be provided, if needed)
- LiveScan Fingerprint Clearance with the DOJ (DOJ application provided during interview process)
