Position Summary:
As a Barista at Summit Coffee Co., you will be the face of our brand, ensuring that every customer enjoys a warm, personalized, and high-quality coffee experience. You will be responsible for preparing menu items, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and providing excellent customer service. Your role is crucial in creating the vibrant atmosphere our customers have come to love and expect.
Key Responsibilities
- Crafting Beverages: Prepare and serve a variety of espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee, teas, and specialty beverages with precision and care. Ensure every drink meets Summit Coffee Co.'s quality standards.
- Food Preparation: Prepare and serve a selection of food items, while ensuring freshness and presentation. Maintain proper food handling and safety standards.
- Customer Service: Greet customers with a friendly and welcoming attitude. Take orders, answer questions about our menu, and offer recommendations based on customer preferences. Strive to exceed customer expectations and ensure a positive experience.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Follow cleaning procedures to keep workstations and equipment clean and organized. This includes cleaning espresso machines, food prep station, countertops, bathroom and a rotating deep cleaning schedule.
- Product Knowledge: Stay knowledgeable about our coffee options, seasonal offerings, and menu ingredients.
- Cash Handling: Accurately process transactions, handle cash, and manage the register with attention to detail. Ensure smooth and efficient checkout for all customers.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with fellow baristas, general manager and owners to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow. Communicate effectively with your team to ensure tasks are completed and customers are served promptly.
- Support Operations: Assist with inventory management, including restocking supplies and ensuring product availability. Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the management team.
- Uphold Brand Values: Maintain Summit Coffee Co.’s commitment to sustainability, quality, and community involvement. Represent the brand positively and professionally in all interactions.
Qualifications
- Previous barista experience required.
- Strong customer service skills with a positive and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills and cash handling experience.
- A passion for coffee and a willingness to learn about different brewing methods and specialty drinks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, crouching.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push pull or otherwise move up to 30 lbs frequently.
