Position Overview:
The Director of Finance and Human Resources plays an important role for Summit Counseling Center, encompassing comprehensive financial management responsibilities, such as accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasts, and the establishment of internal control policies and procedures.
Additionally, this role manages all facets of human resource management, including oversight of employee benefits, information management, grievance resolution, strategic planning, onboarding and exit processes, as well as the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Role Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects of financial management including accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and internal control policies and procedures. Responsible for all aspects of human resource management. Responsibilities include:
Financial Management:
- Manage all aspects of financial accounting operations including billing,A/R, A/P, GL, non-profit accounting including management of designated funds, and program accounting.
- Ensure Center compliance with GAAP accounting.
- Develop, revise and maintain the Center’s internal financial control policies and procedures.
- Reconcile daily cash, monthly banking statements, monthly accounting entries.
- Create and ensure accuracy of monthly accounting entries, GL, and financial statements.
- Meet regularly with the Treasurer and the Chair of Finance for the Board to cooperate with fiduciary oversight and accountability, ensuring accuracy and transparency of financial reporting.
- Manage Center banking relationship including banking, corporate credit cards, line of credit and loans.
- Oversee selection, transition, and management of Center’s financial accounting system from Shelby to a new accounting system.
Financial Reporting and Budgeting:
- Present all financial reporting and measures of financial performance to senior leadership and board in an accurate and clear manner with explanatory narrative.
- Create and ensure accuracy of monthly financial reports including statements of activities with budget to actual performance monthly and YTD, balance sheet, program reviews and designated funds utilization and balances.
- Coordinate and create annual budget forecast and present to senior leadership and board.
- Work with auditors to complete independent annual audit, providing all necessary documentation.
- Coordinate and complete preparation of annual IRS Form 990.
- Work closely with Director of Development to ensure accuracy of financial contributions reporting.
- Work closely with Deputy Executive Director to ensure accuracy of financial reporting to Board and satellite Advisory Committees.
Financial Analysis and Strategic Thinking:
- Work closely with the Board and leadership team to provide analysis for financial decision-making.
- With a detailed understanding of financial business model and data, create projections and feasibility analysis to support compensation, programs, and grant administration.
Human Resources:
- Work closely with the Board and leadership team regarding human resources issues.
- Manage and provide resources to support the staffing process including recruiting, interviewing hiring and onboarding.
- Ensure job descriptions are created and updated and are compliant with all local, state and federal regulations, are appropriate for nonprofits and maintain a BFOQ.
- Manage the compensation strategy process based on market research and pay surveys including comparisons with other nonprofits and Solihten centers.
- Investigate employee issues and conflicts and work with the Board and with management as appropriate to resolve them.
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are in place and are applied consistently through the organization.
- Any other duties as assigned.

- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related discipline preferred.
- Active CPA certification preferred.
- Nonprofit accounting experience with understanding of designated fund management, program accounting, and Form 990 preparation preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of overall professional experience required.
- Ability to show self-efficacy and strong personal initiative while working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong capacity to analyze finance and accounting needs and processesand to organize work accordingly.
- Strong capacity to analyze accounting software systems and to lead transition from one system to another maintaining data integrity.
- Capacity to manage multiple and time-sensitive priorities.
- Ability to build respectful, positive relationships with team members including staff, board members, funders, vendors and others – ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 and relatedMicrosoft (MS Outlook,Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint)

- Able to establish proficiency in Blackbaud Donor Relations Management applications, Valant PracticeManagement Software and Electronic Medical Records, and other designated applications
Salary : $105,000 - $115,000
