Summit County Government is seeking a well-qualified HR Generalist to perform a variety of complex analytical, professional, technical and administrative duties related to Human Resources. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded and diverse HR background. Experience with collective bargaining agreements and union relations a plus.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with exceptional interpersonal and administrative skills. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong presentation skills, and the ability to maintain composure and professionalism in stressful and/or difficult situations. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are required. Individual must be self-directed, highly organized, flexible, detail oriented, and have the ability to manage information and data in a strictly confidential manner. Critical thinking, developing solutions and improving existing programs to meet the ever-changing needs of the organization are an important aspect of this position. Individual must have extensive experience with employee relations.
The selected candidate will support the HR needs of all County Departments and Elected Offices.
This position is exempt and works Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm and additional hours as required. May have the ability to work one (1) day a week remotely (after successfully completion of probationary period)Typical Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in human resources or other related field is required (equivalent experience may be considered).
- At least 3 years HR specific experience in an HR benefit, recruitment, collective bargaining agreements/union relations, drug and alcohol programs, worker’s compensation, property & liability claims, workplace investigations and/or HR employee relations role is required.
- Public sector experience, SPHR or PHR certification, master’s degree or other higher education or related training desired.
- Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license at the time of appointment and throughout employment. Will be required to successfully complete a background check prior to employment.
