Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Budget & Finance, the Accountant III is responsible for providing direct support to the Director of Budget & Finance in preparing, analyzing, reporting, and presenting financial statements and other reports, and assisting with other budget, finance, and accounting operations of the Summit County Land Bank (“SCLB”). The Accountant III may also be responsible for overseeing assigned SCLB programs and projects related to the SCLB’s mission and role in the community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Accountant III is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of the annual budget, finance, and accounting policies and operations of the organization. Typical areas of responsibility for which this position may provide support include, but are not limited to:
- Compiling, Analyzing, Reporting, and Presenting Accounting Activities
- Preparation of Annual Budgets, Annual Financial Statements, and Other Finance Reports such as Balance Sheets and Profit & Loss Statements
- Reviewing Financial Statements for Completeness, Accuracy, and Compliance
- Providing Oversight for Assigned Accounting Operations
- Coordinating Budget, Finance, and Accounting Matters with Other Departments
The Accountant III may be required to represent the SCLB in the community and regularly interacts with local, state, federal, nonprofit, and private stakeholders, and the public, and will be required to perform any, and all, other duties or functions that may be necessary and in the best interests of the efficient operations of the SCLB.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required and 4-6 years of relevant experience is strongly preferred. Licensed CPA candidates and/or candidates meeting the academic requirements for admission to the CPA examination, as set forth by the Accountancy Board of Ohio, and who may be preparing for CPA licensure, is strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, professional and/or technical certifications, and experience may be considered.

Use of Electronic Resources
This position requires an above-average proficiency and comfort level in using, learning to use, or adapting to, electronic resources and other technologies. The SCLB is a ‘paperless’ office.
Travel & Training
The Accountant III must be able to travel to attend conferences, trainings, meetings, and other events, as required, to acquire and maintain proficiency in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position. Some evenings and weekend work may be required.
Compensation & Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is between $68,000 and $76,000, annually. The Summit County Land Bank is a nonprofit community improvement corporation, organized pursuant to Chapter 1724 and 1702 of the Ohio Revised Code. This position is not a “public” position and does not participate in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.
