Accounts Payable Specialist

Summit Design and Engineering, one of the fastest growing companies in the Triangle area, is seeking a full-time Accounts Payable Specialist to work at our headquarters in Hillsborough, NC. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter with attention to detail, extremely accurate and will possess a high degree of analytical skills.

Responsibilities:

• Review and process Visa's in accordance with North Carolina Law.
• Efficient and accurate entry into Deltek.
• Maintain AP system records and coordinate new vendor setup.
• Reconcile corporate credit card statements.
• Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies.
• Process employee expense reports.
• Assist with month-end closing.
• Meet period and year-end deadlines and deliverables and close.
• Review, code and process AP invoices.
• Verify accuracy of invoices and contact managers for approval.
• Audit employee expenses to ensure compliance with company policy prior to payment.
• Communicate with personnel to research discrepancies and provide updates on resolutions.
• Assist with special accounting projects, clerical and other accounting related tasks as needed.
• Support everyday accounting functions and consult with other accounting staff or office staff to resolve accounting discrepancies or answer questions.

Skills and Qualifications:

• High School diploma with a minimum five years of AP experience required or Associates degree in business or accounting from a two-year technical college and three years
• Detail oriented with analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines.
• Ability to problem solve and analyze accounting reports.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; ability to communicate effectively.
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
• Must be able to deal with difficult, sensitive, and confidential information.
• Experience with Microsoft office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe.
