Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a Survey Party Chief in the Charlotte area.

Responsibilities:

• Perform topographic surveys, boundary retracement surveys, ALTA surveys, as-built surveys, and control surveys
• Plan and coordinate the efforts of the survey crew and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly and efficiently
• Operate robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, automatic levels, and data collectors
• Perform survey data processing and QC
• Train junior survey technicians in the use of survey equipment, survey methods, and workplace safety practices
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the field survey work
• Be responsible for survey crew productivity and meeting project deadlines
• Communicate with project stakeholders while working in the field
• Clean, check, and adjust survey equipment

Skills and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of four years of progressive field survey experience working under a licensed surveyor
• Proficiency with operating GNSS receivers and robotic total stations
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, maps, and specifications
• Ability to take survey notes and make field sketches/drawings
• Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Highly reliable with good communication and leadership skills
• Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion
• Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and at heights
• Must be able to lift and carry up-to 50 pounds, on regular basis over rough/uneven terrain
• Must have adequate vision to perform survey tasks and the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
• Valid NC Driver's License with a good driving record and ability to drive
• Must have the ability to travel overnight

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Associates or Baccalaureate degree
• NSPS Certified Survey Technician (CST) Level III certification
• Basic CAD skills (Autodesk AutoCAD/Civil3D)
• Experience with NCDOT route location survey practices and procedures
• Certified Drone Pilot (Remote Pilot Certificate; FAA Part 107)
