What are the responsibilities and job description for the Superintendent position at Summit Design + Build, LLC?
Summit Design Build is seeking experienced and motivated superintendents who desire an exciting and challenging environment to join our growing team. Our superintendents are responsible for the day-to-day operations on-site and provide management for all phases of construction projects including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety. Working with subcontractors and internal project management, the superintendent ensures that project specifications are strictly followed and work is proceeding on schedule, within budget, and in adherence to project standards, contract specifications, and local codes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sets up project trailer, opens the job site at beginning of the day/secures the job site at the end of the day
- Actively participates in weekly subcontractor meetings, prepares meeting agenda and minutes as well as look ahead schedules
- Verifies subcontractor has signed contract and proper certificate of insurance in place prior to beginning scheduled work on job site
- Ensures that subcontractor is fully executing and complying with contracted scope of work
- Coordinates required inspections with local jurisdictions
- Coordinates and schedules all subcontractor activities. Identifies subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards
- Identifies conflicts in construction progress and communicates with the project team for resolution
- Maintains daily log of activities on the job site
- Performs QAQC job site inspections and requires adherence to all applicable OSHA regulations
- Represents company professionally in project meetings, subcontractor, and field communications
- Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates taking full ownership of assigned projects
Qualifications
- 10 years of construction supervision experience in mid-rise residential, complex commercial ground-up construction, and tenant improvement work is required.
- Knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods, etc.)
- Knowledge of the local market is preferred
- Strong leadership/management skills and a proven record of building on schedule
- Ability to identify, investigate and quantify project problems and corresponding alternatives and consequences
- Ability to identify deficient work and provide a resolution
- Ability to plan and prioritize work activities. Uses time efficiently, plans for additional resources, organizes or schedules other people and their tasks, and develops realistic action plans
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, and work productively with others & foster solid client relationships
- Ability to communicate and interact with various types of personalities and authority within an organization
- High school diploma; college education a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including MS Project, Word, and Excel
- Knowledge of MS Project or similar project scheduling software is preferred
- Knowledge of Procore or similar cloud-based project management software is a plus

Physical Requirements

Salary Range: $100k - $140k per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule

- Hours vary, weekend work may be required
- On-site where the project is located
- Must be willing to travel throughout the Chicagoland area
