Speech and Language Pathologist
Reports to: Director of Student Services
Salary: Per the negotiated contract
Summary/Objective: Assess and treat students with speech and language impairments to improve their communication and pragmatic language skills. Experience with augmentative assistive communication devices is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology
Valid ODE license in Speech Pathology
A valid State of Ohio licensure in Speech Pathology
Previous experience in a school setting is preferred.
Other qualifications the Board/Superintendent may find permissible for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide speech and language services to school age students.
Screens and evaluates language, communication skills, and hearing of students.
Scores, writes, maintains communicative status reports.
Gather data concerning speech, language, and communication targets.
Monitors and documents student progress, adjusts accordingly.
Part of the building team to write quality multi-factored evaluations (MFE) and individualized education programs (IEP) as needed.
Complete administrative responsibilities, such as coordinating paperwork, scheduling case management activities, or writing lesson plans.
Develop individual or group activities or programs in schools to deal with speech and language problems.
Design, develop, or employ alternative diagnostic or communication devices or strategies.
Other:
Acts in accordance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
Serves as a role model to students.
Carries self with a high level of professionalism.
Is a team player.
Complies with all board policies and administrative guidelines/procedures.
Maintains regular, reliable and predictable attendance as this is a function of this position.
Keeps all professional license(s) applicable to position current at all times.
Has a current and passing BCI/FBI background check on file with HR during entire employment.
Performs all aspects of the job and other duties as directed or assigned.
Work Environment/Physical Demands (may include but not limited to):
Will encounter students, parents, coworkers, colleagues and the general public. May encounter rude/angry individuals.
Exposure to airborne pathogens, blood borne pathogens and/or communicable diseases.
Exposure to weather conditions and/or temperature extremes.
May be required to perform repetitive movements.
May be required to travel to meetings and work assignments.
