JOB SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Clerk handles the assigned branch’s incoming and outgoing merchandise and manages stock. Load and unload items from delivery trucks, move merchandise to the appropriate storage area, prepare outgoing shipments, and check that orders are complete and not damaged.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments, handling, and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current, organized, clean, and labeled.
  • Organize all material that is for a specific project clearly labeled by job number and/or project name, separated and protected from material for other projects.
  • Inspect physical condition of warehouse and equipment.
  • Prepare work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
  • Confer with manager to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as sales, installation, and purchasing.
  • Direct salvage of damaged or used material. When material is determined to be damaged, material is labeled accordingly and separated from good material to ensure that material is not used.
  • Pick up orders and deliver orders to job sites.
  • In coordination with the corporate purchasing team, ensure all materials are purchased and delivered on time to the correct job site.
  • Maintain the warehouse and ensure that it meets requirements and policies.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully, however in some cases, an equivalent combination of Education, Training, Certifications and Experience may meet the job qualifications.

Education, Training, Certifications:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements:

  • 3-5 years’ of warehouse experience required.
  • Forklift experience, and were necessary, current certifications and/or licenses.
  • Frequent local travel is required.
  • Must be able to lift >50 lbs.

Communication Skills:

  • Must have the ability to read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers.

Systems and Software Skills:

  • Ability to operate a computer and use Microsoft office is required.
  • Maintaining warehouse inventory, preferred.

Other Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Must be able to comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is consistently required to bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs, kneel, lift, reach above and below shoulders, stand and walk for extended periods of time. Employee is required to see in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus. Employee will frequently be required to balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift >50lbs, sit, stoop, twist and work at heights.

Work Environment:

Employee will consistently be required to work inside and outside in hot/cold temperatures while standing on hard surfaces. Employees will occasionally be exposed cramped quarters, moving machinery, dust, fumes and odors. Employee will be occasionally wear appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies.
