About the Job:
The Credit Balance Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely review and preparation of refunds (patient and insurance) and for reducing credit balances in a timely and efficient manner.Roles and Responsibilities:
Determine whether to refund the credit balance to the insurance company, patient, or reverse the contractual.
Reviews credit balances to ensure accurate payments as per contractual terms and makes any necessary adjustments or corrections.
Ensures daily productivity of at least 25 refund requests (patient and insurance) combined, or an equivalent monthly average based on number of days worked.
Checks accounts receivable and bad debt for other open accounts and makes appropriate transfers.
Verifies credit transactions, confirms correct account application, and transfers misapplied payments.
Prepares refunds, transfer adjustments, or other relevant documentation as required, and submits them to the Manager for authorization.
Follows-up on returned checks to ensure proper reimbursement of accounts.
Follows up on uncashed checks and determines if reissues or transfers to unclaimed property are necessary.
Ensure all inquiries from patients, facilities, colleagues, and management are addressed in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required.
Two or more years of recent experience in hospital or medical office refund, billing, and collection
Familiarity with Manager Care Contract terms and reimbursement guidelines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
