About the Job:
The Advanced Assembly Technician is responsible for the assembly, fabrication, and construction of equipment necessary for the execution of Summit’s projects. This position requires the technician to meet established production deadlines while maintaining quality standards of craftmanship. The Advanced Assembly Technician will also provide guidance to less experienced technicians to ensure efficient and accurate work. Essential functions must be performed without endangering the health and/or safety of the individual or others.

Responsibilities:

Support the Assembly Manager in planning and executing assembly workflows for Summit projects.

Maintain a higher standard of craftsmanship and output expectations, ensuring components are thoroughly tested and verified. Consistently deliver accurate, high-quality results within project deadlines.

Lead by example in craftsmanship, efficiency, and professionalism, contributing to a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.

Assemble audio, video, and lighting systems with minimal supervision, applying expert-level proficiency in tasks such as rack building, terminations, soldering, labeling, cable making, and snake building.

Operate CNC machines, laser engravers, and related software to produce custom components such as rack plates, XLR barrels, and tags.

Monitor project order sheets for discrepancies and take action to resolve them. Update spreadsheets, drawings, task lists, and internal communication systems to ensure accurate tracking and execution.

Perform on-site work including rack installation, wire termination, wire pulls, wire dressing, wire tray dressing, and system testing/verification to ensure proper functionality.
Skills and Abilities:
-
Expert-level proficiency in basic Install and Assembly areas (rack building, wire pull, terminations, basic rigging, basic field install)

Intermediate to advanced understanding of advanced install, advanced fabrication and advanced assembly areas (rack building, wire dressing, wire tray dressing, FOH & video suites, product order sheet accountability, fabrication process, etc.)

Advanced-level execution in all Assembly areas (rack building, FOH & video suite, wire dressing, wire tray dressing, terminations, snake & wire building, fabrication, etc.)

Understands SIS ID Technical Drawings at an advanced Level (searching & signal flow)

Ability to test & troubleshoot systems at an advanced Level (continuity & termination testing)

Intermediate-level proficiency and knowledge in the CNC Machine, Laser Engraver, 3D Printer and the Fabrication Process.

Basic understanding of how to navigate and operate Vectorworks, Coreo, Epilog and 3D Printing Software.

Maintains personal accountability through execution and by actively communicating about priorities with the Assembly Manager.

Able to read, write, spell and communicate effectively in English, ensuring clear and concise documentation and communication. Basic math and reporting skills.

Dependable, organized, and have attention to detail. Work independently with a strong ability to problem solve.

Ability to operate forklifts. Must be able to ascend and descend ladders.

Knowledge and ability to test and troubleshoot systems at an advanced level (continuity and termination testing).
Job Requirements/Certifications
Our headquarters is located in Colorado.

High School Diploma or GED
-
Maintains valid Drivers License, clean driving record, and the ability to be insured under the company plan

Current Certifications in OSHA-10 or higher, DOT medical card, Forklift Certification (Summit offers these certifications upon hire)

1 year of experience in the AVL industry

Proficiency in using tools and equipment commonly found in AVL installations. Familiarity with industry standards including safety protocols and regulations relevant to AVL system installation

Working conditions:

Occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds to shoulder height and overhead

Occasionally push, pull, or move up to 90 pounds on carts, and carry or move up to 50 pounds over short distances

Frequently required to stand, walk, or move for 8 hours, including bending, twisting, reaching (forward and above the head), crouching, squatting, stooping, and kneeling

Ability to climb and work at heights of 6 feet, including the use of ladders or steps

On occasion, or while traveling, this position may be exposed to loud work areas, exposure to dust and uneven terrain or in confined spaces. Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.

This position is commonly exposed to inside work, fluorescent lights, concrete floors, computer monitors and video screens.

Schedule: Monday—Friday, generally core business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. Onsite field work and travel approximately 65 days per year, hours/days will fluctuate onsite to meet project demands.
