About the Job:
The System Design Engineer ensures Summit meets customer expectations by taking the requirements for AVL systems formulated by the Project Management team to create error-free in-depth system designs that enables smooth construction by other trades and effective installation of AVL systems by the Summit teams. This position also reviews parts lists for accuracy, and based on the system requirements, programs equipment prior to leaving the rack room or on-site.

Responsibilities:

Collaborates with Solution Architects and Project Managers to understand AVL system design intent.

Using software automation, batching, and other time-saving tools, efficiently crafts detailed sets of system design plans for the construction and installation processes using industry standard CAD platforms such as Vectorworks.

Drafts interior elevations, schematics, wiring diagrams, rigging details, etc. to ensure Installation team has all necessary details while on-site.

Verifies details of system design with the client’s vendors (e.g. architects, engineers) including power, weight, heat loads, interior elevations, schematics, wiring diagrams, rigging details, layouts, dimensions, infrastructure requirements, and trade coordination to confirm accuracy of project scope, proposals, and parts lists.

Before sending to internal Summit teams, reviews all system designs to ensure accuracy, confirms functionality of the system, and compares design against customer requirements to verify design will meet expectations.

Produces 3D, loudspeaker, and Acoustic models for design collaboration with project manager and sales team.

Generates documentation for installation such as schedules and wire pull sheets using Microsoft Excel and Google Docs.

Assists with the maintenance and continuous improvement of company toolsets and templates used for engineering, drafting, and commissioning.

Prepares audio, video, and lighting system configuration files, such as Audio, Video or Lighting console files, DSP programming, etc.

Assists with the startup, implementation and commissioning of equipment to manufacturer specifications, in the office and on the project site.

Serves as a resource and technical expert for the Customer Service team.
Skills and Abilities

Advanced ability with CAD/Vector based software platforms such as Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Sketchup, and/or Revit to produce detailed system design plans.

Advanced level of technical knowledge in audio, video, and lighting systems and can quickly and efficiently design AVL Systems based on customer requirements.

Strong 3D spatial awareness, able to visualize an environment and “see” things before they exist.

Salary: $62,847.00 - $75,000.00 per year depending on experience

Schedule:

Full-time, Monday-Friday, generally during core business hours.

Hybrid work policy — expected to be in office a minimum of 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) once training period is complete (which may require 5 days per week in the office).

Eligibility for bonus based on company and personal performance
Travel requirement:
Occasional travel to installation sites. Hours will flex to meet project demands while onsite.
