The purpose of this role is to bridge the gap between our on-prem and cloud data warehouses at Summit Credit Union. The Data Engineer designs data systems, ensures data governance, and provides the business with intelligence to inform their decisions. Works with engineers, developers, IT and Business leaders to transform Summit Credit Union's data capabilities and solutions, as well as drive business outcomes. Exercise your independent judgment to apply your experience in data analytics and database design to advise peers, stakeholders, and leadership on the best data tools and practices to achieve Summit's technology and business goals.
Expected Outcomes
- Data is leveraged as a strategic asset, allowing the Data Engineer to drive informed decision making, and support the achievement of Summit's strategic goals. Data is accurate, complete, and consistent, ensuring that business decisions are based on reliable information.
- Data governance practices comply with all relevant regulations and standards and protect against unauthorized access.
- Stakeholders’ data needs are understood and met, or exceeded, and the provided solutions are tailored to the business, and data strategies align with business objectives. Generated data analytics effectively address specific business questions, identify trends and patterns, and use historical data to predict future outcomes.
- KPIs and metrics for data consumption, integration, and use at Summit are effectively established and measured
Capability Requirements
Capability Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Analysis, Business Analytics, or related field.
- 3-5 years in data management role(s) or combination of applicable work experience and education.
- Working knowledge of cloud architecture (AWS/Azure) and data management practices.
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in data analytics, database design, and data modeling.
- Familarity with Python and ETLs.
- Knowledge of data governance, data integration, and management practices.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets to inform business decisions.
- Experience with business intelligence tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to innovate with new technologies and methodologies.
- Ability to effectively manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Exercise independent judgment while recommending technologies and business solutions.
- Able to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences and multiple levels of leadership across all levels in the organization.
