Manager - IT Development

Summary

The Manager - IT Development oversees the design, development, testing, and deployment of technical solutions that enhance the experiences of Summit’s members and employees. This role is responsible for executing technical projects aligned with Summit’s strategic roadmap. The IT Development Manager collaborates closely with IT and business leaders to ensure development efforts meet the long-term needs of the credit union. Key responsibilities include leading a versatile, cross-functional team that adapts to changing priorities, delivering innovative solutions, mentoring technical staff, and upholding organizational development practices.

• Leadership promotes staff engagement, supports professional development, and enhances retention, while fostering a culture of recognition. 
• Projects are delivered on-time meeting quality and performance expectations. 
• Measured and reported return on investment (ROI) for development activities while adhering to budgeted expectations with minimal variances.   
• Strong relationships with stakeholders are built and maintained, measured by the frequency of meetings and feedback on effectiveness. 
• Technology initiatives are aligned with the organization's vision and strategic plan. 
• Year-over-year increase in the adoption of developed products or services by the business, enhancing the success rate of achieving business outcomes through advocacy and recommendations. 
• Compliance requirements are met through strict adherence to industry regulations, company policies, and quality assurance standards.   

Capability Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Seven years or more of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role; or combination of applicable work experience and education
• Strong technical background with expertise in relevant technologies and programming languages. 
• Proven experience in managing software development projects from inception to delivery. 
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to balance technical and operational responsibilities effectively in Summit’s fast-paced, innovative environment.
• Exceptional people management skills to effectively lead and develop team members.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges. 
• Experience with Agile software delivery methodology
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools. 
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Physical Demands of Position: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit, stand and walk, use hands and fingers. The employee occasionally must reach above and below shoulder level, and lift/push/pull and /or carry up to 10 pounds. 

Environmental/Working Conditions: Works in a typical administrative setting with climate control and appropriate lighting. Travel to branches requires exposure to outdoor and traffic conditions.
