Overview
The prime objective of the Plant Terminal Supervisor is to assist the Plant Terminal Manager and Quarry Manager in the day-to-day operations of the shipping and quarry departments, to include directing and supervising the workforce. This position will backfill for the Plant Terminal Manager and the Quarry Manager in their absence. This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations.
Ability, Skills & Knowledge
- Five (5) or more years of previous operations experience
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Good verbal, numerical, abstract, and perceptual speed, and accuracy reasoning abilities
- Maintain a positive customer service attitude.
- Strong time management skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Computer literacy.
- Proficient in math.
- Proficient in English language.
- Ability to work overtime, all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Must demonstrate good employability skills (attendance, job performance, attitude, willingness to work, etc.).
- Due to the nature of this position, it is essential that the teammate be available to report to the designated work site / office and be ready to begin work when scheduled,
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Performs all tasks in a safe and professional manner in conformance with federal regulations, plant rules, quality standards and company policies.
- Maintains proficient communication with Production, Quality Control, Maintenance, Logistics, and Sales departments.
- Must be familiar with all shipping functions and capable of operating all critical shipping equipment.
- Responds to incoming communications, via phone, radio and other verbal inputs.
- Receives information from the Quality department regarding product usage.
- Understands the proper operations of all shipping equipment and optimizes the performance of it on an ongoing basis.
- Keeps logs and daily reports current and accurate.
- Responds to all alarms and assures that they are taken care of appropriately.
- Assures environmental compliance on all shipping equipment or informs management so the situation can be reported and rectified.
- Responds to call outs on an as needed basis.
- Trains other employees as needed.
- Assures work area is kept clean and orderly.
- Directs hourly employees and contractors as needed by management.
- Attends & participates in plant, department, and team meetings.
- Participates with physical inventory of product and materials.
- Supervises all truck, rail and barge loading.
- Represents the company to employees of outside transportation companies and customers. Treats all visitors and customers professionally with friendly, customer-service oriented attitude.
- Ensures plant maintains clean and presentable shipping facility.
- Fill in as the interim Plant Terminal Manager as needed.
- Performs all tasks in a safe and professional manner in conformance with plant rules, quality standards and company policies.
- Responsible for ensuring an adequate supply of raw materials for continuous operation of cement manufacturing facility.
- Maintains consistent quality of raw materials.
- Maintains good communication with Production, Laboratory and Maintenance departments.
- Assures that logs, records, and daily reports are current and accurate.
- Responsible for stripping, mining, processing and land reclamation of mine properties.
- Maintains good communication with outside contractors.
- Directs activities of quarry personnel.
- Maintain harmonious relationship with surrounding landowners.
- Fill in as the interim Quarry Manager as needed.
- Other duties may be required and will be assigned as necessary.
