They are responsible for managing inventory, tracking deliveries, and communicating with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor team performance and provide coaching and feedback to improve productivity and job satisfaction
- Strives to meet customer expectations without exception and achieve highly positive customer satisfaction results consistent with strategic objectives
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to effectively manage dispatch operations
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness in dispatch operations.
- Prioritizes deliveries to efficiently maximize time and effectively utilize trucks/carriers by collaborating with terminals, sales, customers to establish delivery schedules according to factors such as truck capacities, distances to delivery sites, and loading/unloading times
- Develop working relationships with internal and external customers to ensure customer needs are addressed and challenges resolved in a timely fashion to improve the quality of service; identify areas for continuous improvement opportunities.
- Manages Safety requirements for Carriers and Drivers at source locations and customer sites; ensures compliance with safety, insurance and training.
- Reports against KPI metrics (carrier & customer scorecards, freight to customer)
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience: 5 years in Management Role or Transportation Industry; 3 years dispatching experience preferred; knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
- Skills: Safety mindset; organized self-starter with a positive can-do attitude, a sense of urgency to meet customer commitments, manage and follow through on multiple tasks, proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Work Environment: Frequent sitting, standing, and walking; some exposure to dust, noise, and extreme temperatures when on a job site.
