Biller- Description

Summit Medical Center is looking for a Biller to join our Quality Care Team. Position is available at our Edmond hospital. This is a full time, day position working Monday-Friday.

Position Summary:

Responsible for all billing and insurance form generation functions in the facility.

Summit Medical Center's staffing is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross-trained in other administrative areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.

Responsibilities:

  1. Follows billing guidelines.
  2. Documents concisely, precisely and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy.
  3. Reviews, generates and sends electronic claims.  Mails claim when necessary.
  4. Communicates with all departments to ensure accurate claims submission, requesting or making edits and updates as appropriate.
  5. Performs follow up on all rejections in clearinghouse software and makes changes as necessary to re-file the claim.
  6. Updates claims sent via spreadsheet daily.
  7. Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
  8. Maintains and cares for department equipment and supplies.
  9. Performs net down adjustments on all accounts in a timely manner.
  10. Completes follow-up tasks assigned by posters as assigned.
  11. Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
  13. Maintains established center/departmental policies and procedures.
  14. Maintains confidentiality of patient and center related business.
  15. Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors and other center employees.
  16. Participates in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and center business.
  17. Manages month-end processes in their entirety, including, but not limited to, all reporting, account reconciliation, account adjustments, and account balancing across all systems. Attendance expected during month end processes.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. At least 2 years previous experience with Accounts Receivable/Billing/Insurance.
  3. Must be alert, honest, and of good character.

Special Skills and Knowledge:

  1. Basic computer and office skills.
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  3. Specialized training for electronic submission of insurance forms.
  4. An understanding of Accounts Receivable principles and procedures.
  5. Strong attention to detail.
