PRN-Respiratory Therapist-Description
Summit Medical Center is looking for a PRN- Respiratory Therapist to join our team. Position is available at our Edmond hospital, on an as needed basis.

Position Summary:
Provides respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians, according to established standards and practices.
The staffing of Summit Medical Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross-trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Sets up equipment and medications and administers respiratory treatment as ordered by the physician; charts treatment, response, and progress.
- Monitors environmental control systems and patients on continuous ventilation.
- Performs nasotracheal and tracheal suctioning.
- Observes patients, checks equipment, and makes changes as necessary during patient rounds.
- Sets up bronchoscopy equipment and assists physicians during procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
- Maintains and cares for department equipment and supplies.
- Maintains established center/departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and center related business.
- Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
- Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors and other center employees.
- Documents concisely, precisely and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy.
- Participates in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and center business.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Post High School Specialized Training.
- Maintains license as RCP through Oklahoma Medical Board.
- Previous respiratory therapy experience required.
Special Skills and Knowledge:
- Care of the operative as well as postoperative patient.
- Operation of vital signs monitors.
- Assessment skills.
- Principles of Standard Precaution.
