Tennessee Eye Care Lenoir City, a division of Summit Medical Group is seeking an Optician. This is a full time opportunity. The right candiate will provide eyeglasses and contact lenses by filling written optical prescriptions; determining clients current prescriptions. The Optician is responsible for helping patients understand their options and finding eyewear that looks great and functional. The Optician is responsible for learning about new products, managing inventory, and ensuring quality.
Examples of Duties (List does not include all duties assigned)
- Provides eyeglasses and contact lenses by filling written optical prescriptions; determining clients current prescriptions.
- Identify patients needs and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames.
- Help patients select frames by offering commentary on styles, colors, coordinating frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions.
- Ensure that eyeglasses fit customer by adjusting frames.
- Educates customers by offering instructions in eyeglass and contact lens care and use.
- Sells optical goods by displaying and promoting sunglasses and optical supplies.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations.
- Assist with filing insurance claims.
- Review Physicians prescriptions and orders based on medical charts.
- Operate manual lensometer and other tools to achieve proper fitting for patients.
- Manage inventory of frames and contact lenses to ensure optimum customer satisfaction and product variety.
- Communicate with physician with questions or concerns about prescriptions and other eye-related issues.
- Help technician with duties on occasion.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality both internally and externally.
- Adheres to expectations of the established corporate compliance plan.
- Actively participates in site-level Quality Improvement Activities. Each employee will contribute to the continual evaluation site performance as well as the implementation and measurement of improvement activities that increase the quality of care provided to patients.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Education
High school diploma or GED required. Some vocational school/ associates degree preferred.
Experience
Experience dispensing corrective lenses preferred. Customer service and sales experience required.
Certification/License
Certified Dispensing Optician preferred but not required. No certification or license required.
