SMS 1.0 Counselor SY 25-26 (Interim Grant Funded)

- This position is a 3-year grant position supported by the CDE School Counselor Corp Grant.

The School Counselor helps students attain an optimum level of personal and social adjustment. In order to coordinate a comprehensive counseling program, the middle school counselor must work closely with the other staff and administration. 

Advocates for students and provides and assesses interventions to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program that fosters achievement for all students. Provides assistance to children in making educational, occupational, and life plans that increase the probability of students becoming mature and responsible decision-makers who enjoy a high degree of personal fulfillment.   Provide direct and indirect counseling services to children who are exhibiting symptoms of social, emotional, and/or academic difficulties that interfere with their academic or social progress.  Develops, promotes, and maintains good relationships with community members and co-workers.

1. Bachelor's degree required.

2. Master’s degree or equivalent required or enrolled in alternative licensing.

3. Current authorization or license issued by the State of Colorado indicating s/he is properly endorsed.

4. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

5. Effective time management and organizational skills.

6. Bi-lingual preferred

Salary range listed is based on SY24-25. This will be updated after negotiations.

195 Days for this position

For all positions, experience is determined by years of work in the same job title. Experience that is similar but not the same job may be calculated at a 3:1 credit for years of experience. Years of experience shall be whole numbers and not partial years.
