Job Summary
Working as an integral member of the finance team, the accountant develops and maintains accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. Responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, activities include general ledger preparation, year-end audit preparation, support of budget and forecast activities, and assisting in streamlining the revenue cycle.
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities
*Performs wide variety of regular and recurring moderately complex accounting functions requiring full professional competency. SENIOR: Performs complex accounting functions including fiscal interpretation and analysis. * Oversees, monitors, and ensures the accuracy of day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, cash disbursements, payroll, inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, and revenue and expenses. SENIOR: Performs internal audit procedures. *Ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close, which includes all the reconciliations of various general ledger accounts. SENIOR: Interprets accounts and records for administrative officers. *Drafts the annual financial statements, including the related footnotes, as well continuing to evaluate and improve upon current processes and controls to ensure clean and timely year end audits. *Ensures compliance with all financial reporting deadlines with external agencies. *Responds to requests from managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests, analytical inquires, and the like. *Partners with department managers to ensure chargemaster and billing compliance. *Researches and analyzes alternatives for improving workflows. Develops “best practice” recommendations by partnering with the managers and outside organizations, examining data and identifying trends. Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Organizational Responsibilities

Required Education and Experience
Accountant:
- Graduate of an accredited school with a minimum of an associate degree with an Accounting Certification. Bachelor’s degree in finance and/or Accounting is preferred.
- Three (3) years of finance and/or general ledger experience; healthcare industry experience preferred.
Senior Accountant:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or closely related field required.
- Five (5) years of finance/accounting experience, including healthcare industry experience.
Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations
CPA preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Thorough understanding and working knowledge of financial reporting and general ledger requirements. Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, managers, and patients. Strong leadership, facilitation, delegation, and coaching skills. Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced professional setting. Works professionally as a member of the team and has interpersonal skills required to interact with staff members. Intermediate to advanced skills in data mining, analysis and reporting. Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products. Ability to develop processes and systems and to maintain accurate documentation and records. Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience. Demonstrated leadership, communication, education, collaboration and counseling skills. Ability to work independently performing a wide variety of assignments that require the use of independent judgment, problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills.
