Job Summary
Accountable for effective ongoing operations of the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Maintains high standards of patient care and staff performance. Establishes policies and procedures to provide administrative direction and develops and maintains a positive work environment that promotes SPMC values.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises staff working in the Diagnostic Imaging department. Plans and directs workflow and operations to ensure consistent delivery of quality patient-centered care and efficient operations. Manages staff, services, equipment, and programs to accomplish maximum utilization and ensure efficient and effective patient care.
Manages operations in accordance with established safety standards. Ensures the safety of patients, staff, and visitors with regard to radiation equipment and precautionary shielding procedures.
Participates in the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of protocols and standards of care. Researches and recommends program and service enhancements, equipment modifications, equipment purchases, and alterations or construction needs for the department.
Facilitates continuous process improvement. Monitors and evaluates the accuracy and technical quality of exams, identifies problems and opportunities for improvement and takes appropriate actions to improve outcomes. Contributes to quality improvement programs and initiatives in accordance with hospital policies, community standards, and compliance with all laws, regulations and requirements of appropriate licensing and accrediting bodies.
Builds and maintains effective working relationships. Advises and consults with physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel. Serves as a liaison across disciplines. Participates as an active member of various committees; leads work groups, projects and committees as assigned.
Executes management tasks in an accurate and timely manner. Manages department to meet service and performance expectations. Maintains appropriate staffing levels and competency of staff. Maintains equipment and physical space. Provides effective leadership and oversight of assigned staff; leads by example and provides support, guidance, coaching and performance management when needed. Monitors and manages staff satisfaction and engagement.
Maintains professional skills and awareness of regulatory changes, compliance issues, innovations and developments, through research and training/continuing education opportunities. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and federal, state and local laws. Stays abreast of trends and best practices. Maintains programs and records in good order, as required for efficient and effective operations.
Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Organizational Responsibilities
In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, all employees are expected to support the Summit Pacific Medical Center mission, vision and values; comply with SPMC policies and procedures; and conduct themselves in an ethical, professional, respectful, and collaborative manner at all times.
Required Education and Experience
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Five (5) years of clinical experience in the field of radiology
- Two years management experience.
Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations
Washington State Department of health Diagnostic Radiology Certification. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or equivalent registry. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Additional certifications in CT, Mammography, and/or Ultrasound, preferred Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Advanced knowledge of diagnostic imaging technology and practices. Demonstrated competence in clinical skills; ability to train and evaluate. Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, caregivers, and patients. Strong leadership, facilitation, delegation, and coaching skills. Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products. Ability to learn and effectively use electronic medical records and other systems and equipment. Ability to develop processes and protocols and to maintain accurate documentation and records. Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience. Demonstrated leadership, communication, education, and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently performing a wide variety of assignments that require the use of independent judgment, problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills.
