Job Summary
Working as an integral member of the clinic team, the Medical Assistant supports and assists health care providers by performing patient care duties to facilitate smooth, efficient, high quality care and positive experiences for Summit Pacific patients.
Job Specific Duties And Responsibilities
In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, all employees are expected to adhere to Summit Pacific behavior and patient experience standards, comply with policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines; and act in an ethical, professional, respectful, and collaborative manner.
Required Education And Experience
Current Washington State Department of Health Medical Assistant Certification and Licensure. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required within 90 days of hire.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of medical assistant duties and scope of practice; knowledge and skill in techniques of good patient care. Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products. Ability to learn and effectively use electronic medical records and other systems and equipment. Working knowledge of Medical Terminology. Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation and records. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to read, write and speak the English language. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to perform a wide variety of assignments that require the use of independent judgment, problem-solving, organization, prioritization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to cultivate effective working relationships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, managers, and patients.

Job Summary

Job Specific Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs patient care within the MA license scope of practice. Carries out providers’ orders accurately and in a timely manner. Facilitates patient flow to ensure optimize clinic operations and patient experience. If wait times are apparent, communicates to patients, providers, and coworkers. *Assists with treatments and procedures within MA scope of practice. Assembles all needed supplies. Ensures that adequate consent has been obtained by provider prior to all procedures when necessary. Notifies patients of test results, as directed and requested by providers. Documents presenting complaint; follows clinic policies and procedures for rooming patient and completing vital signs. Prepares patients for provider’s exam. Maintains current information on the patient’s health/care status. *Administers immunizations within MA scope of practice and under supervision of, and as ordered by, the medical provider. (The administration of controlled substances by health care assistants is prohibited by state law.) Ensures that all medications administered are signed by the delegator and the medical assistant and sent to the Department of Health. *Maintains accurate and timely records. Files documents in the electronic health record daily. *Communicates regularly with referral coordinators to ensure accurate and timely referral process for consults, exams, diagnostics, and procedures. Completes referral tasks in a timely and accurate manner. *Performs daily room checks and stocks exam rooms with all needed supplies. Manages sample medications. Checks for outdates monthly. Documents, orders, and inventories immunizations accurately and appropriately. *Coordinates with Environmental Services to maintain a neat and clean environment. Cleans exam tables and countertops and maintains cupboards and storage areas in good order. Consistently performs and demonstrates good infection control practices in all aspects of daily work. Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.

- Graduate of an approved certified medical assistant program.
