Job Summary
The Podiatrist provides oversight and direct independent patient care of all podiatry services to included care to patients with foot and ankle conditions to include outpatient clinic, hospital based ambulatory procedures, and acute care unit consultations at Summit Pacific Medical Center. The Podiatrist also provides oversight and direct patient care for the wound care program.
Job Specific Duties And Responsibilities
Providers administrative leadership and development of the Podiatry Department and Wound Care Program. Provides comprehensive care for Podiatry and Wound Care patients in both ambulatory and inpatient environments. Performs evaluations, discusses goals with patients, implements care plans, prescribes medications, educates patients about risks and benefits, and monitors progress. Works closely with other members of patient care team in the formulation of the total care plan for patients. Utilize advanced imaging technologies Performs inpatient and outpatient clinical work. Perform forefoot, rearfoot, and ankle ambulatory surgical procedures. Perform inpatient and outpatient wound care Obtains appropriate medical history and physical data on patients. Performs appropriate physical exam and records findings. Meets or exceeds quality care standards, achieves clinical excellence, contributes to quality improvement, and strives for high patient satisfaction. Participates actively in the quality improvement system, complies with all appropriate Washington State Department of Health standards, National Patient Safety goals, and other quality improvement projects. Maintains appropriate, accurate and timely records using a computerized record keeping and coding system. Uses voice recognition and related technology, with appropriate consent from patient/guardian. Works closely with other departments in patient care as needed. Maintains professional skills through research and training/continuing education opportunities. Participates in interdisciplinary meetings and huddles; stays abreast of trends and best practices. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and federal, state and local laws. Maintains flexibility as a key job function with respect to day-to-day work location and patient population

Required Education And Experience
Active and unrestricted Washington State License as Podiatrist DEA certification Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to problem solve in real time, using resources and knowledge to optimize patient outcomes. Ability to diagnose, develop treatment plans, and treat patients across a broad spectrum of medical foot and ankle diagnoses. Ability to apply knowledge of pharmacotherapy when appropriate in the development of treatment plans Proficient in the use of current technology and computers; ability to learn and effectively use new programs and equipment. Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience. Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, managers, and patients. Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation and records. Ability to work independently performing a wide variety of duties that require the use of independent judgment, advanced problem-solving, critical thinking, organization, and prioritization skills.
