Is looking to add an enthusiastic team player to our fast-paced, growing pathology company, as a Pathology Lab Assistant Ischemia Technician. The Ischemia Technician assists with the handling of breast specimens at Centrum Surgical Center in Greenwood Village, CO. This full-time position is split between being on-site at Centrum Surgical Center, when needed for breast excisions/frozen sections, and remote. The remote duties include helping resolve issues related to patient information, demographics, and billing through LIS queues. This involves daily interaction with clients, Summit's billing company, and other members of the administration team.

As a Pathology Lab Assistant Ischemia Technician, you will interact closely with pathologists, pathologists' assistants, hospital leads, and Centrum Surgery Center staff.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responsible for assessing the specimen quality, making necessary corrections, and preparing breast specimens for transport, grossing, and processing
- Ink and slice breast excision specimens to achieve CAP recommended cold ischemia time of less than one hour
- Assist Pathologist or other physicians with frozen specimens including training on cutting frozen sections
- Responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, and reassembly of the cryostat per established protocol
- Handle inventory, upkeep, and organization of the Centrum Pathology Room.
- Maintain stain lines and completion of all maintenance logs when on-site
- Assist with Breast Conference Tumor Board prep for the pathologists Assist with on-site accreditation inspections
- Resolve issues related to patient information, demographics, and billing through LIS queues.
- Involvement in meetings and projects related to revenue cycle management and improvement.

- Perform other additional duties, responsibilities, and tasks as required
Education/experience: 1. An earned associate degree in a chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution, OR 2. Education/training equivalent to the above that includes the following:
60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution. This education must include 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses, OR 24 semester hours of science courses that includes six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination, AND
- Laboratory training including either completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, CAAHEP (note that this training may be included in the 60 semester hours listed above), OR at least three months of recorded laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.
- Ability to work independently and to effectively problem-solve issues.

- Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, including medical terminology.
- Previous grossing of anatomic pathology specimens is preferred.
- Starting pay for this position is $22/hr
