What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Technician - 2nd Shift position at Summit Plastic Molding?
Summit Plastic Molding is a plastic injection molding facility in Shelby Township, Michigan. Our company has been in business for over 40 years and we are growing in the automotive industry.
We are hiring a Process Tech for 2nd shift.
- 2nd shift hours are 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm.
- Direct Hire Full-time; Monday thru Friday
- Employee benefits offered after 90 days

Responsible for production of the shift assigned, in conformance to specified quality and quantity and a minimum cost, and according to schedule; supervises production workers directly or through operators, outlining work procedures and assigning duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the setup and adjustment of machines.
- Assist in solving work related problems.
- Responsible for machine maintenance, machine repairs including documentation.
- Supervise and train production personnel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Train, advise, and council employees on up-to-date production methods.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Adjust process as required to produce acceptable product.
- Adjust processes to improve efficiency/productivity.
- Inspects safety devices on all equipment.
- Assist machine operators in running their machines as efficiently as possible.
- Maintain cleanliness and general appearance or the production floor.
- Responsible for all documentation pertaining to the overall operation of their shift.
- Convey all information required to oncoming supervisor to assure he/she has all the information necessary to run a smooth production shift.
- Document any noted clear or malfunction of equipment to ensure proper repair to equipment is completed on timely
- Instruct all employees as to overall functions of equipment being used and be confident that all involving personnel have necessary knowledge to operate all machinery in a safe productive manner.
- Other duties assigned by management as deemed necessary for the overall success of the company.
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity relating to product, process and quality system.
- Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ultimately responsible for the quantity of all products produced during the scheduled shift.
- Responsible for the correct usage of aft processing equipment and secondary equipment during scheduled hours.
- Responsible for all documentation pertaining to the overall operation of his/her shift.
- Responsible for the appropriate set-up of molds and preventative maintenance of all machinery.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate of science degree or two to three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Requires considerable knowledge of the methods, tools materials and equipment associated with injection molding.
- Ability to supervise, establishes, and maintains cooperative relationships with other employees.
