JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Janitor FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt
REPORTS TO: Manager, Maintenance
SUMMARY
This is responsible work involving routine cleaning, and general custodial labor. Work generally involves housekeeping of a routine nature in accord with a pre-determined daily schedule of tasks. Minor maintenance work not involving diagnosis and/or troubleshooting may be performed as necessary. Medium to average weights are lifted infrequently throughout the work day.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Under general supervision is responsible for the following major tasks:
Cleans, sweeps, mops, sanitizes, and assures proper supplies are in place in all restrooms.
Cleans, sweeps, mops, sanitizes tables, machines, and trash barrels in lunch/break rooms.
Empty trash, cleans, sweeps, mops, dusts all offices (as assigned) each day.
Sweeps, shovels and maintains sidewalks and employee entrance ways to assure safe and clean passageway for employees and plant visitors, including de-icing when necessary.
May perform routine, unskilled preparation, washing, and painting of plant walls, machinery, etc., as required.
Assists maintenance and other personnel as directed.
May use hand or motor powered tools as necessary to perform required tasks.
Other work projects as directed by supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Possesses the ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This position typically does not require any travel.
