Summit Psychological Associates, Inc. currently has an opening for a full-time forensic Clinician - LPC / LPCC or LSW / LISW - to work out of our Akron and / or Canton offices. A psychology assistant (Masters level in psychology) would be considered if they have experience in providing clinical mental health or substance abuse services. Summit Psychological Associates, Inc. is a mental health center founded in 1984. Our Mission is to provide comprehensive behavioral health care by a culturally and linguistically competent staff that utilizes evidence-based treatment to promote recovery, dignity and well-being to consumers, their families and the community. We work closely with the court system and probation / parole services to provide services to clients involved with the criminal justice system or with child protective services.
The Clinician position includes the following activities :
- Individual mental health and integrative MH / SUD counseling with adolescents and adults including clients involved with the court system and / or child protective services.
- Individual mental health and integrative MH / SUD counseling with adults who are returning to Summit and Stark County from Federal Prison or who are pre-trial.
- If interested in providing treatment services to clients convicted of a sex offense, the clinician would be provided with a series of trainings and then the therapist would be able to co-lead Group counseling with male adult sex offenders and with sex offenders who have developmental disabilities.
- Clinicians would also have the opportunity to facilitate substance use groups, if interested, or could develop mental health groups for clients based on their clinical expertise.

Clinicians have the flexibility to work both in the office and work remotely for some of their week. LPC's and LSW's are provided supervision by LPCC-S or LISW-S clinicians. Newly hired clinicians are assigned either a supervisor (for non-independent clinicians) or a senior clinician (for independently licensed clinicians) to orient the new staff member to agency procedures and to the electronic medical record. Clinicians with their supervision designation would have the opportunity to provide supervision to LPCs or LSWs. Clinicians meet weekly to learn agency updates, procedure changes and to staff cases. Advancement to administrative roles is available to interested clinicians.
Summit Psychological Associates, Inc. is certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OMHAS), and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its outpatient treatment mental health programs serving adults, children and adolescents, and the criminal justice population.
