About the Job
- Full-time opportunity for an Optometrist in Mattawa, WA.
- Located in Central Washington, approximately 60 miles from Yakima and 150 miles from Seattle.
- The role involves overseeing patient diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of vision problems and eye diseases within the scope of licensure.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Examine eyes to determine visual acuity and perception, focus, and coordination, and diagnose diseases and other abnormalities.
- Purposefully practice at the full scope of licensure, prescribe medications to treat eye diseases as state law permits.
- Prescribe, supply, fit, and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids.
- Analyze test results and develop treatment plans.
- Educate and counsel patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements, and safety factors.
- Remove foreign bodies from the eye.
- Order and interpret special-testing data for patients.
- Observe and train staff regarding appropriate work-up procedures.
- Consult with and refer patients to Ophthalmologist or other healthcare practitioner if additional medical treatment is necessary.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care to patients undergoing eye surgeries, such as cataract and laser vision correction.
- Promote a positive work culture and uphold clinic policies and procedures, including WE CARE standards of behavior.
- Uphold confidentiality regarding group activities, reports, financials, patient health information, and other proprietary information specific to the group.
- Serve as a clinical lead in the absence of Director of Eye Care.
Qualifications
- Maintain authoritative skill and knowledge in principles of sound medical practice.
- Familiarity with the scope of practice and knowledge of regulatory authority governing practice of Opticians and Ophthalmic Technicians.
- Awareness of unique needs of the indigent and underserved with practice emphasis on rural medicine needs.
- Degree in optometry from an accredited school of optometry and licensed to practice in the state of Washington.
- Unrestricted license from the State of Washington to practice optometry.
