We have an exciting opportunity open for a Pipeline Technician 1 in Little Rock, AR.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs many phases of natural gas pipeline and right-of-way (R.O.W.) operations and maintenance, including responsible for inspecting the work of contractors.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patrols pipelines as required by regulations
- Obtains cathodic protection readings on pipeline as needed
- Monitors pressures at various points along pipeline
- Installs, maintains and keeps records of location of pipeline markers
- Performs records analysis on pipelines to check feasibility of inline inspection tool passage
- Prepares sketches and field notes for minor offsets and relocations to pipeline
- Works with contractors launching, tracking, and receiving cleaning pigs and ILI tools
- Assists Pipeline Integrity engineers making decisions on tool choice and effectiveness
- Uses supplied tool data dig sheets to accurately locate anomalies
- Works with Pipeline Integrity engineers to deliver accurate analysis of pipe condition and compare with supplied tool data for tool accuracy validation
- Assists with performing leak surveys on pipeline if needed
- Inspects contractors while they perform R.O.W. or maintenance work, including the repair of leaks or offsets to the pipeline
- Operates tractor and mower occasionally to clear R.O.W.
- Apply environmentally responsible chemicals to control vegetation.
- Performs some hand-clearing of vegetation at R.O.W. road crossings
- Performs station maintenance, such as painting or mowing, as required
- Works alongside Measurement Techs to adjust pressures and reroute flow directions to allow pipeline shutdowns for replacement jobs
- Set up and operate flare stack to remove excess gas, and supervise purging to ensure safety
- Schedule GoVac equipment and personnel and assist in utilizing GoVac with safety and environmental responsibility in the forefront
- Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Requires a high school diploma or the equivalent knowledge of English, mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and percentages), punctuation, grammar and spelling.
- Requires a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in construction, installation and maintenance of natural gas mains and distribution lines or natural gas pipelines.

- Apply knowledge of industry and company safety standards and regulations and hold others accountable for complying.
- Provide a valid state driver's license and present and maintain a good driving record and operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
- Learn to read maps and to interpret construction drawings accurately.
- Able to demonstrate an aptitude for basic mechanical tasks.
- Able to solve problems with logical solutions.
- Use a Personal Computer, SAP, and Mobile Data.
- Complete paperwork as required.
